The Bloom is Finally off the Rose for the Europeans

originally shared by Debra Covack

My husband and I were in Europe on a river cruise in 2010.  We had a Program Director who was German and thought Barack Obama was the 2nd coming.  Her sentiments were shared by most of her fellow Europeans.  They were positively orgasmic over Obama.   So I felt duty bound to set them straight everytime they panted and drooled over Obama.

I had a bad habit of speaking my mind, and I always tried to correct misperceptions of Obama's popularity in America.   They seemed genuinely shocked that we weren't all as enthralled with him as they were.

Marion, the PD, actually had the nerve to tell me "Well, don't criticize him here.  We like him!"

I wonder if she's still so enamored of him today.  It seems most of Europe has changed its mind re the Obama Imperial Presidency.   They are discovering  the  Emperor has no clothes.

At first our allies mistook weakness for diplomacy.  Obama was offering them a better seat at the table as he relinquished the US role as leader of the Free World to a kind of  "Rule by Committee."   Like the Politboro.   His self-proclaimed "leading from behind" flattered Germany and France, who have always bristled at taking a back seat to the US.  So they liked Obama a lot, because he had taken the US down a peg, just like he promised to do in the 2008 campaign.

What they hadn't really prepared for was the power vacuum created when the Obama stepped down as the Leader of the Free World.  Putin stepped right up to fill it, and he immediately made Obama look  the fool over arming the Syrian rebels/Al Qaeda affiliates.

The EU is getting a little concerned about whose side Obama's on.  It doesn't seem to be theirs or Israel's.   He has supported the Muslim Brotherhood against the stable regimes and toppled the dictators, bringing chaos and to the whole region.   There is a foregone conclusion that those countries, formerly secular government, will become Islamic States.  Why do you think the Saudis are in such a snit?

For his coup de grace, Obama has given Iran carte blanche to build a nuke.   And Europe is a lot closer to them than we are.  Yeah, I would say the bloom is definitely off the Obama rose over there.
